BLOG TOUR :: Unsettled by S.C.Ellington

Genre: New Adult/ Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: December 10th,2013

Synopsis:

After a horrific breakup with her long time boyfriend, Brooklyn Caldwell is completely disenchanted with the notion of mingling with the opposite sex. Damon Williams had been everything she thought she wanted…until he wasn’t.

In an attempt to escape her heartbreaking past, Brooklyn seeks refuge in bustling Washington DC where she folds into the fast paced society unnoticed…until she meets a young entrepreneur, Logan Colton.

Brooklyn is surprised to find that while she has been successful in keeping the opposite sex at bay, somehow she is defenseless against Logan’s confidence and charm—and it doesn’t hurt that he is absurdly beautiful. While thrilled with Logan’s candor, Brooklyn hesitates, as she can’t seem to move past the heartache that she suffered at the hands of Damon.

As much as Logan didn’t plan on pursuing her, he is drawn to Brooklyn’s muted beauty and her witty persona. For all his success, Logan is ensnared in the coveted world of unequivocal wealth and power, but behind closed doors is taunted by demons and an undeniable need to atone for a monumental mistake.

As the two embark on a tumultuous obstacle course saturated with unknown twists and turns, Brooklyn is left to question whether she can endure the journey ahead.

Unsettled is a wonderful book and it proves that S.C. Ellington is here to stay and provide us with more great books..

The only negative thing I have to say is that I didn’t find the story very original. The story is similar to others I’ve read..It felt like I’ve read it before, to be honest…

However, the writing is remarkable and it made up for its lack of originality, in my opinion. It has elegance and a very beautiful flow. Our two main characters evolved together as people and as a couple and I more than enjoyed their journey. It also has an aura of mystery, since the reader has a feeling that secrets are held, truth is hidden..And you keep waiting for the other shoe to drop..

>>Brooklyn is woman who has felt pain and loss in its most raw form..She kept it a secret from everyone and withstood the pain almost alone. That’s what I didn’t understand..How can you not tell your best friend and roommate?..Anyway..She was betrayed and brought to her knees, but she kept it together and tried to stand up..She may be witty, but I didn’t find her very fiery..I think she’s one of the people who survive every day but not really love their lives. Of course, the pain she’s suffered from has made her very cautious, understandably. But I strongly believe she can do much better! She definitely needs a kick in her bottom…

>>Logan is a great man with morals and confidence. He knows what he wants and he fights for it..He does everything for the people he loves..I really liked him as a character..He was mysterious but honest..I don’t see him as a liar, so I will not assume anything like Brooklyn did (xoxo) I really enjoyed reading about him! He is definitely the most mature person in the book…

In conclusion,

If you like romance, you should really read it..It’s a nice book wonderfully written..

If you want something different, I would not put it at the top of my TBR, if I were you..

Unsettled is a quite good book, a great debut for the author and a very nice beginning of a series that has some serious potential…It should definitely be on your mind..

Excerpt:

“Logan Colton wanted me to call him? Why? I wondered ….For the life of me I couldn’t understand the cruel joke that the universe was playing on me. I wasn’t the pretty or popular girl that got asked out by legions of boys to prom. I still remembered the awkward years of my youth—the braces, obscene hairdos and neon tights. Nope, I wasn’t Paula Patton beautiful. I wasn’t on any millionaire’s long list of friends—nor did I want to be. Logan would just have to settle for one of the women who would be more than willing to sink her teeth into his obscene fortune, guaranteeing that she wouldn’t have to lift a finger for the rest of her natural life.”- Brooklyn Caldwell
